Modern poets revealed by the International creative project «Shevchenko’s Day»
The Russian House prepared an International creative project «Shevchenko’s Day» for the Memorial Day of the Russian-Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko.
In Moscow, the students of the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute together with their rector - People’s Artist of Russia Yevgeny Knyazev, gathered at the International News Agency «Rossiya Segodnya» for a teleconference. The director of the Literary Museum Dmitry Bak and guests of the Russian House in Kiev - writers, poets, theater workers, students, schoolchildren - talked about the work of the Great Kobzar (the kobza player). On this day, his poems were performed in Russian and Ukrainian.
«We believe that the project will become a platform for the integration of the cultural space of Russia and Ukraine and creative dialogue between artists, poets, writers of the two countries», Narmin Shiralieva, Head of the Department of Culture of Rossotrudnichestvo noticed.
The results of the International competition of contemporary poets were summed up on the «Shevchenko’s Day».
Citizens of Russia, Ukraine, as well as compatriots living in the Commonwealth of Independent States were invited to participate in this competition. However, the geography of the submitted works was much wider and included Cuba, Pakistan, Latvia, Germany and other points on the world map.
In total, more than 2000 works were presented to the jury in both Russian and Ukrainian. The youngest participant was 11 years old, and the most venerable poet had 84. Among the contestants there were teachers, students, schoolchildren, athletes and housewives, pensioners, military personnel, doctors, artists, sailors and pilots.
«The main thing is that our contest is out of politics, which means that the selected topics were also out of politics», Narmin Shiraliyeva pointed out.
The chairman of the jury, poet Vladimir Vishnevsky named the finalists:
«In our world today, on various occasions, we can hear the word «crisis», but the crisis of poetry is not expected, because the Slavic soil itself pulsates with the current of poetry, recruits new names into it», Vladimir Vishnevsky stressed.
The works of the authors will be included in the first issue of the collection of contemporary poets «Shevchenko’s Day», which will be published in Russia. The book will be distributed in literary and social circles.
