The conversation was held during a meeting of the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov with the rector of ASU Konstantin Markelov. The University in the lower reaches of the Volga Region implements international cooperation with 81 partner-organizations in 25 countries.

The acquaintance with the university was interesting and productive: presentations of projects on robotics, artificial intelligence, discussion platform for the promotion of the Russian language abroad, work with young people, export of educational services - these are all the topics that unite Rossotrudnichestvo and ASU.

Shakhrum Boboev, a student from Tajikistan who studies at the Faculty of Law at ASU, noted that the Russian language for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is «the same language as the native one». For him, this is not only the culture and literature of Russia, but also a single media space, since Russian channels are watched in his country.

As Yevgeny Primakov pointed out, «both the Astrakhan Region and the university are actively working in the Caspian region». «The relations that the university has in Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Kazakhstan and others are very important for the Agency. This cooperation includes advanced training courses, university departments, and support for foreign students studying in Russia. We are ready to support any initiatives, because this is a part of our common humanitarian policy», he stressed and expressed readiness to cooperate with ASU in the targeted areas of promotion and support of the Russian language.

ASU also arranged an open lecture by Yevgeny Primakov on «Cooperation with the CIS: historical memory and common heritage», which tells about the importance of maintaining good-neighborly and mutually beneficial relations between Russia and the CIS, and preserving the Russian language. Questions and answers session received a wide response from the students.
