British political scientist has destroyed the stereotypes about Russia in his new book
British political scientist, publisher of Politics First magazine - Markus Papadopoulos presented his book «Arise, Rossiya». The meeting with the author was attended by leading experts on international relations from Russia and the United Kingdom.
«I decided to write a book about Russia to resist the horrific lies that Western politicians and journalists tell about Russia nowadays. I hope that after reading my book the Western audience will come to the conclusion that Russia is far from the embodiment of the devil, as politicians and journalists have historically considered this country», Markus Papadopoulos noted.
From the book, the Western reader will be able to learn about the decisive role of the Soviet Union in the victory over fascism, the successes of the Bolshevik state and the situation in modern Russia.
Chief editor of «Russia in Global Affairs» magazine - Fyodor Lukyanov expressed his position on modern international relations, noting the inadmissibility of external interference in the internal affairs of states. The expert is convinced that «Relations between Russia and the West should be based on a position of equality, with respect for their personal interests».
Professor of the University of Cambridge, author of numerous works on Russia - Neil Kent, noted the importance of cultural ties and common spiritual values of the Russian and British people.
Russian historian and political scientist, director of the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) - Alexey Gromyko has no doubt that after the translation into Russian language, the book will be widely discussed in Russian circles. «This book is unusual not only on its own, but also because it is alone in the ocean of anti-Russian propaganda», - a disappointing conclusion of the Russian politician about the information mood in the West.
«The headline «Arise, Rossiya: The return of Russia to world politics» with a patriotic tone raises questions. Russia, a great nation with a centuries-old civilization, rich in literature, art and music, but was it really absent from the world politics?» - the British political journalist Adel Darvish suggested that it was the West that fenced itself off from Russia at a time when Russia has always been an important player in the world political arena. Darvish cited Europe’s rejection of the Russian vaccine as one of the latest examples of this behavior.
Candidate of philological sciences, Head of the Center for British Studies at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) – Elena Ananyeva noted that the West has no desire to comprehend Russia and build rational relations on the basis of understanding. She highly appreciated the book, calling it very informative, honest and with a deep awareness of the issue.
Soviet and Russian jurist, professor, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) - Nikolai Topornin concluded that it is high time for the West to understand and accept the fact that Russia is a completely independent country, and it is time to find solutions and compromises in order to build fruitful cooperation.
The book, the work on which was held from February to August 2020, was published in the United States due to the fact that the work of the British political scientist differs from the official British interpretation of events in Russia.
