In the museum of the headquarters of the US Space Fund, located in Kolorado Springs, the solemn ceremony of opening the bust of the first man in space Yuri Gagarin was held.

The transfer of the bust became possible due to the efforts of the International Charitable Foundation "Dialogue of Cultures - One World", as well as of the Russian embassy and the Rossotrudnichestvo office in the United States.

In the solemn ceremony of opening the bust, the General Director of Roskosmos Igor Komarov, the Hero of Russia, the Spent Director for Manned Space Programs Sergei Krikalyov, the Consul General of Russia in San Francisco Sergey Petrov, the representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in the United States Oleg Zhiganov took part.

At the ceremony, the head of Roskosmos Igor Komarov expressed the hope that "the opening of the bust of Yuri Gagarin in Colorado Springs will be a great event not only for professionals, but also for young people, which brings new energy and new ideas to the space industry." I.Komarov emphasized that "the first flight of Gagarin is not only a chapter in the history of Russia, but also a part of world history."

The head of the US Space Agency, James Ellis, thanked the Russian side for handing the bust, noting that "it is not just a sculptural image of the first person in space ... Gagarin's bust will be a vivid reminder of what is more important than all the technical devices, space capsules, rockets and spacesuits stored here - Courageous people who have expanded the boundaries of the modern view of the cosmos."
