The new International annual award for intellectual literature named after Alexander Zinoviev has been instituted in Russia. It will be awarded to talented Russian authors living both in our country and abroad. On September 28, Rossotrudnichestvo hosted a press conference, dedicated to the establishment of the award. It was attended by representatives of Alexander Zinoviev Foundation, Rossotrudnichestvo, administration of the Oryol Region, Communist Party of the Russian Federation, and famous writers.
“The award is absolutely unique, it has no analogues in the world, since the Russian spirit, Russian literature and spirituality only belong to the Russian world”, Olga Zinovyeva, president of the Foundation and chairman of the jury, highlighted. “I am very proud of living at a time when such a monumental phenomenon as an international prize receives its name after Alexander Zinoviev”.
The prize aims at finding and promoting talented authors both in Russia and among compatriots abroad. “The Foundation's purpose and this great project coincide with Rossotrudnichestvo’s mission, including popularization of the complexity of the Russian thought and the richness of the Russian language in the whole world”, Mikhail Bryukhanov, Deputy Head of the Agency, stressed.
Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, State Duma deputy Yuri Afonin emphasized the significance of the international prize for the Russian public and literary community. “It is important for the legacy of Alexander Zinoviev to take deep root not only among the academia, but also in young people’s minds”, he stated.
The fact that Governor of the Oryol Region Andrey Klychkov has provided support to the Alexander Zinoviev International Prize is emblematic, as the Oryol Region is considered to be the center of modern literary life. “We pay special attention to the development of the Russian language and the preservation of the literary heritage”, representative of the Oryol Region administration Natalya Grigorieva said during an online conference with Moscow.
The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Prize jury, writer and journalist, State Duma deputy Sergei Shargunov, philologist, literary historian, Alexander Zinoviev’s biographer Pavel Fokin, editor-in-chief of the journal “Otechestvennye Zapiski” Sergei Shulov, poet, director, artistic director of the Moscow Poets’ Theater Vladislav Malenko, writer, playwright Yuri Polyakov, literary critic, historian and poet Igor Volgin.
