Meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Intergovernmental Commission takes place in Bishkek

The 22nd meeting of the Kyrgyz-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Humanitarian Cooperation was held in the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

This session was preceded by meetings of Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexei Overchuk with President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov and Deputy Prime Minister Erkin Asrandiev.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Mikhail Bryukhanov and Head of Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in the Kyrgyz Republic Viktor Nefyodov. The parties discussed, inter alia, the increase in the number of quotas for education in Russian universities for graduates of Kyrgyz schools. According to Alexey Overchuk, about 15 thousand students from Kyrgyzstan study at Russian universities today, of which 6.5 thousand have obtained a government education grant.

The participants of the meeting also discussed an increase in the number of flights between the two countries, as well as measures to counter the spread of COVID-19, changes in the calendar for the Cross Year, assistance provided to Kyrgyzstan in taxes administration and goods labeling, cooperation in industry and transport.
