Anniversary of the meeting of Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia was held in Russian Center for Science and Culture in Rome

The anniversary of the meeting of heads of eastern orthodox and catholic bodies of Christianity was celebrated in the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Rome. Alexander Avdeev, the ambassador to Vatican and representative to the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, opened the concert dedicated to this historical meeting.

On February 12, 2016, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia and Pope Francis met in Havana airport. The meeting lasted 2 hours and was dedicated to the persecution of the Christians in the Middle East.

A number of Vatican’s authorities took part in the celebration, such as Hyacinthe Destivelle, the member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Joseph Bettencourt, the head of the Papal Protocol and Visvaldas Kulbokas, specialist for relations with Russia and CIS countries. A group of top-level priests represented Russian churches in Rome.

Russian-Italian Rachmaninov Trio consisting of Victor Yampolsky (Piano), Natalia Savinova (Cello) and Sergio Delmastro (Clarinet) performed works of Tchaikovsky, Glinka, Beethoven, Rossini and Donizetti.
